When Decoration Becomes Architecture

Fragments of Grace is a mosaic system composed of decorative porcelain tile tiles, designed to lend character and depth to wall coverings. Created by designer and creative director Margherita Rui, it emerged as the culmination of Grace Atelier’s compositional journey and is conceived as a true Déco Mosaic Laboratory, where decoration ceases to be an accessory and becomes an architectural language, capable of engaging with the most demanding interior design projects.

The project is built on a refined dialogue between two souls that are only seemingly distant: the geometric and modular rigor of Modernism and the visual richness, decorative patterns, and play of refraction typical of 1920s Art Deco. Precise geometries, graphic interlacing, metallic effects, and glazed backgrounds blend with the stone surfaces of Grace, Grace Fossil, and Grace Lithos, giving rise to a coherent, eclectic design ecosystem of the highest aesthetic fidelity.

Fragments of Grace explores the expressive potential of decorative porcelain tile tiles through four distinct collections, each with its own character and graphic rhythm:

Tressé
Domus
Avenue
Pince

What unites the four mosaics is the ULTRAmatt finish (Italian Patent Pending), which creates matte, anti-glare surfaces that are soft to the touch, creating a contrast with the glossy and metallic glazes of the decorative inserts. Type A and Type B modules can be used on both floors and walls, while Type C modules are intended exclusively for vertical surfaces.

Domus

Bands, small inserts, and measured geometric shapes follow one another with precision, creating a composition with a more architectural character. The orderly rhythm echoes the logic of Déco flooring and the elegance of Venetian terrazzo, bringing a design language originally intended for floors into the vertical plane.
