Metropolitan Tradition

CottoMilano embodies the contemporary evolution of cotto-effect porcelain stoneware, combining the ancient charm of Milanese tradition with modern technology. Designed by Domenico Orefice in collaboration with Ceramiche Keope's R&D team, the collection draws its inspiration from the historic Curti Furnace, the kiln that fired the terracotta elements of iconic buildings such as Santa Maria delle Grazie.

A “smart” material for modern, versatile projects, able to reinterpret the warm red of Milanese cotto using invisible technology shaped on contemporary design. The collection demonstrates how a technologically advanced product can be profoundly thrilling, transforming classic architectural elements into innovative ceramic surfaces.

Innovative finishes and superior performance

CottoMilano reinvents the cotto effect, enhancing it with a tactile sensation never before experienced on ceramic tiles. The collection features three innovative finishes: Glossy for elegant and bright surfaces, anti-slip Strutturato R11 for outdoor use, and the revolutionary ULTRAmatt (patent pending).

Matt, velvety and low reflective, the innovative ULTRAmatt surface delivers an exceptionally authentic terracotta effect by combining the natural terracotta aesthetic with the performance of porcelain stoneware. Innovative materials give the tiles a unique three-dimensional allure, with the typical abrasions of authentic cotto.

Particular material applications create endless textured patterns, which combine with digital decoration techniques to ensure no two tiles are ever identical. The soft, opaque surfaces create a subtle yet engaging effect for interiors, expanding the possibilities of terracotta beyond traditional rustic settings.

Formats, decorations and colors

The collection features a full range of sizes from 120x120 cm to 6x24 cm. The decorative elements include geometric patterns inspired by Milanese architecture, with arched shapes, circles and modular compositions that recall the city's historic arcades and façades. Decorative strips and mosaics allow for the creation of customized floor and wall surfaces.

The color palette includes six colors – Mattone, Terracotta, Creta, Sabbia, Argilla and Talco – that transform antique terracotta-effect floor tiles into universal, cosmopolitan surfaces. From warm Milanese red tones to neutral and mineral hues, each shade enhances the matte, material aesthetic that stirs the emotions and makes this unique range suitable for 21st century smart buildings.
