The language of materials in architecture

Architect and co-founder of XTU Architects, Anouk Legendre has developed an innovative approach to urban design, merging scientific research, sustainability, and technology. Knight of the Agricultural Order of Merit and member of the French Academy of Architecture, she taught at ENAPM from 2002 to 2007 and has lectured worldwide, from Montreal to Shanghai. Her studio is renowned for visionary projects such as the Jeongok Prehistory Museum in South Korea, the French Pavilion at Expo 2015—awarded Best Pavilion—and the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux. Currently, XTU is working on the development of the BayEcotarium in San Francisco. The firm’s work has been exhibited in prestigious venues such as the Centre Pompidou and the Mori Art Museum. A pioneer in bioarchitecture, she patented the biofacade system, active building skins that integrate microalgae cultivation for more sustainable and resilient architecture.
